ABOUT THE ARTIST
Originally from the Basque Country, Martin Harriague began classical and contemporary dance at the age of 19. He joined the Ballet National de Marseille in 2008, then the Noord Nederlandse Dans in the Netherlands in 2010. From 2013 to 2017, he danced in Israel at the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. He has notably performed the pieces of great personalities of the international choreographic scene, including Stephen Shropshire, Andrea Miller, Itzik Galili, Emanuel Gat, and Roy Assaf. At the same time, he developed his own choreographic writing and stood out for his multicultural creations. He has been awarded prizes in Hanover, Stuttgart, Copenhagen and Biarritz.
For a decade, Harriague has collaborated with numerous ballets and companies in Europe including Malandain Ballet Biarritz, Leipzig Ballett, Hessisches Staatsballett Wiesbaden, Chemnitz Ballett, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, TNLOS Nordhausen, Dantzaz Konpainia, and Korzo. A polymorphous choreographer, Harriague is in turn a scenographer, dancer, performer, lighting designer, composer, musician, and singer who enjoys bringing together different disciplines to explore different media and formats, such as short films, operas, off-site performances, and video.
Harriague was associated with the CCN Malandain Ballet Biarritz from 2018 to 2021 and he has been an associated artist at Scène55 since 2023.
