ABOUT THE RESIDENCY
figaro/faggots marries the classic opera The Marriage of Figaro with the groundbreaking queer novel Faggots. Set on Fire Island in 1977, it is part theater, part opera, and part disco — with music by W.A. Mozart and a libretto retrofitted with text by gay-rights activist and renowned author Larry Kramer. Featuring an ensemble of countertenors, ballet dancers and actors, the work investigates long-term same sex partnership, queer love and the fight for marriage equality through music, found text, devised choreography and the transfiguration of objects.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kevin Carillo is a theatermaker who writes, directs, choreographs, and devises new musical works. Awards/Fellowships: NYSCA Artist Grant; William R.
