ARTISTS

CELIA ROWLSON-HALL (Writer, Choreographer, Director) is a multidisciplinary artist who fuses narrative storytelling, modern dance, and film—creating a genre all her own. She is thrilled to be bringing her unique approach for the first time to the stage with SISSY. Celia is a prolific and widely sought after choreographer and movement director, upcoming films are Ann Lee, directed by Mona Fastvold, The Drama (A24), and Merv (Amazon). Recent films include Smile 2 (Paramount), After Yang (A24), X (A24), Aftersun (A24), Birds of Paradise (Amazon), Chapter One of Vox Lux (Neon), and The Fits (Oscilloscope). Her TV work includes HBO’s The Staircase, two seasons of Ziwe (Showtime), John Mulaney’s Sack Lunch Bunch (Netflix), and The Other Two (HBO Max). She has also choreographed music videos for artists Alicia Keys, Coldplay, Bleachers, MGMT, Romy, and many others. Celia’s debut feature, Ma, which she wrote, directed, choreographed, and starred in, premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2015. It went on to play at over 40 festivals worldwide, winning numerous awards, including the Breakthrough Audience Award at AFI Film Festival. Celia’s vast body of short form work has garnered a variety of awards, including an Emmy nomination, and have screened at festivals such as Sundance, Venice, SXSW, SFIFF, Dance on Camera at Lincoln Center.

LUCAS HEDGES (Actor) is an Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee. He can next be seen in Eva Victor’s film Sorry, Baby, which is set to release theatrically on June 27, 2025. Lucas stars alongside Victor and Naomi Ackie and the film is produced by Adele Romanski, Mark Ceryak, and Barry Jenkins at PASTEL. In 2023, Lucas made his West End debut as “ENNIS” in the world premiere stage adaptation of Annie Proulx’s Brokeback Mountain, a new play with music by Ashley Robinson, songs by Dan Gillespie Sells, directed by Jonathan Butterell, and starring Mike Faist as “JACK.” In 2023, Lucas starred in Participant’s Shirley for Netflix, also featuring Regina King and Lance Reddick. Previously, Lucas starred alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Tracy Letts in Azazel Jacobs’ French Exit, based on the bestselling book by the same title. He also appeared in Steven Soderberg’s HBOMax film Let Them All Talk, starring Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen, and Gemma Chan. Hedges was also seen in Honey Boy, a film based on Shia LaBeouf’s childhood. Additionally, he starred in A24’s Waves, written and directed by Trey Edward Shults and in Joel Edgerton’s film, Boy Erased for Focus Features, starring Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman and Edgerton. Additionally, he starred in Peter Hedges’ Ben is Back opposite Julia Roberts and Jonah Hill’s directorial debut, Mid 90s, where he co-stars opposite Katherine Waterston. In 2018, Hedges made his Broadway debut in Kenneth Lonergan’s The Waverly Gallery at the John Golden Theatre. Directed by Lila Neugebauer and starring Elaine May, Joan Allen, and Michael Cera. Hedges is perhaps best known for his turn opposite Casey Affleck in Kenneth Lonergan’s Academy Award–winning movie Manchester by the Sea. For his performance, Hedges was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, the Gotham Award’s Best Supporting Actor, a Critics’ Choice Best Supporting Actor, and an Independent Spirit Award’s Best Supporting Male, and he won Critics’ Choice Best Young Actor as well as NBR’s “Male Breakthrough Performer of the Year.”

JESSE KOVARSKY (Dancer) is a creative collaborator dedicated to narratively driven physical based work. He’s performed internationally in works by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Hofesh Shechter, Alexander Ekman, Punchdrunk, Russell Maliphant, Arthur Pita, Ryan Heffington, Bobbi Jene Smith, and proudly Celia Rowlson-Hall. In New York he appeared as a soloist at The Metropolitan Opera House in The Death of Klinghoffer, he was a performer and rehearsal director in Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More, and recently originated a role in Life and Trust. His Broadway credits include Fiddler on the Roof, The Band’s Visit, and is attached to the upcoming Broadway show Queen of Versailles. His film and TV credits include Anna Karenina, Smile 2, Dicks the Musical, Wolfs, After Yang, Tick Tick Boom, The Muppets Most Wanted, And Just Like That…, Harlem” and Up Here. He’s also danced alongside some vocal powerhouses including Chappell Roan, Jessie Ware, Ariana Grande, and Paul McCartney. He works as a movement director for commercials, fashion brands, and film/TV. He was recently nominated for a Helen Hayes Award for his choreography in The Shakespeare Theater Company’s Much Ado About Nothing. 

NANDO MORLAND (Dancer) has performed on Broadway in productions such as Bob Fosse’s Dancin’ and West Side Story. Morland’s immersive theater credits include Life and Trust (originating cast) and Sleep No More. He has toured nationally with Wicked and Fiddler on the Roof, and appeared in Up Here on Hulu. Morland was one of Dance Magazine‘s “25 to Watch” honorees in 2019. He has performed with the dance companies Gallim, Madboots Dance, Rashaun + Silas, and Stefanie Batten Bland. He holds a BFA in Dance from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. 

ALIZA RUSSELL (Dancer) is a performing artist based in New York, originally from Missouri. She was a performer in Punchdunk’s Sleep No More in New York City for 5 years, and most recently Rachel Chavkin’s Gatsby at A.R.T. She has worked as a dancer, actor, and collaborator with artists such as Bobbi Jene Smith, Sigrid Lauren, Michelle Dorrance, Jenn Freeman, and Akram Khan; and is elated to be working with Celia Rowlson-Hall again on SISSY. Russell has a BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and is a 2018 Princess Grace Award recipient in dance.

IDA SAKI (Dancer) is originally from Dallas, Texas, and trained at Dance Industry Performing Arts Center and Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing & Visual Arts. She furthered her studies at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and soon after, became a closing member of Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet after dancing with them from 2011–2015. She has performed in the shows Ars Nova’s The Lucky Ones, Andy Blankenbuehler’s Only Gold, Sonya Tayeh’s You’ll Still Call Me By Name, and played Lady Macbeth as well as was a Rehearsal Director in Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More. She was named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” and awarded Modern Dance Winner by NFAA YoungArts where she was also named a Presidential Scholar of the Arts. Saki is the Assistant Choreographer and played Electra in the film, CATS. She is a featured dancer in Coldplay’s music video Cry, Cry, Cry, Warner Brothers’ In The Heights, Netflix’s Halston, and Hulu’s upcoming Up Here, as well as was the Associate Choreographer on Amazon Studio’s Birds of Paradise and A24’s ZIWE. Saki is a co-founder of Dancers Give Back Dallas, a non-profit raising funds for cancer research and patient support. She can be seen in Cabaret on Broadway.

JACOB THOMAN (Dancer) is a Filipino American movement artist based in New York City whose work weaves across multiple artistic channels. His practice focuses on connecting life and is interested in how the generous impulse of dancing wields that fleeting substance. Jacob graduated in 2019 from The Juilliard School and a few months later joined Gibney Company through 2023. Some of Jacob’s collaborators include Alan Lucian Øyen, Stefanie Batten Bland, Akira Uchida, Max Cookward, Celia Rowlson-Hall, Dorchel Haqq, Sonya Tayeh, David Raymond and Tiffany Tregarthen, Akram Khan, Amy J Garner, and Mio Ishikawa. Beyond the stage he’s found himself moving in film, site specific works, club spaces, and poetry.

JACOB WARREN (Dancer) stands at 6 feet, 6 inches, excels at seeing over people’s heads in crowds, and struggles in Economy Class on airplanes. He grew up playing soccer and saxophone, but spent most of his time trying to be a ninja, and really hasn’t let go of any of those influences. He is one half of Leggy Bones Physical Theater, one sixth of the Harmonica Lewinskies, and one whole gentle giant, despite playing hulking, violent villains the majority of the time. When he’s not teaching, choreographing, or performing, he’s probably shoveling noodles into his mouth, or trying to prove that gravity is a myth and youth is a lifestyle choice. 

ZOË WINTERS (Actor) will next be seen in Celine Song’s A24 feature, Materialists, opposite Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans. Winters is best known for her breakout role as Kerry on the HBO award winning hit series, Succession. She and the cast received a 2022 and 2024 SAG Award for Best Drama Ensemble. Winters’ other film and television credits include Flatbush Misdemeanors, Hunters and Marc Turtletaub’s feature Jules, in which she stars opposite Ben Kingsley. A longtime New York stage actor, Winters appeared in Heroes of the Fourth Turning at Playwrights Horizons, for which she received an Obie Award and a Lucille Lortel nomination. Other stage credits include White Noise at The Public, Small Mouth Sounds at Signature, Red Speedo and Love and Information at NYTW, An Octoroon at Soho Rep, Walden at Second Stage,The Last Match at Roundabout, The Harvest at LCT3, Much Ado About Nothing at The Public’s Shakespeare in the Park and 4000 Miles at Lincoln Center. Winters recently wrapped production on Kristoffer Borgli’s highly anticipated film The Drama for A24 starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya.

ANNA GRIGO (Scenic Designer) is a New York City-based scenic and production designer for theatre, opera, film, and the performance arts. Select credits include: Scenic Designer for Choir Boy (Yale Repertory Theatre), Kinky Boots (Bucks County Playhouse), birthday birthday birthday (The Tank), Fiddler on the Roof (Yale Dramatic Association), Matt & Ben (Kitchen Theatre Company), and Shining City (Hudson Stage Company). Anna was the Assistant Scenic Designer for the Broadway production Sweeney Todd and the Associate Scenic Designer for the Broadway production Cult of Love. Anna received her MFA in Set Design from the Yale School of Drama. She is a proud member of United Scenic Artist Local 829.

ARJUN BHASIN (Costume Designer) was born in India and studied film at New York University’s Tisch School of Arts. Today, he shuttles effortlessly between Hollywood and Bollywood, crisscrossing sensibilities and ideologies. Bhasin resides in New York. Film costume credits include: A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, starring Tom Hanks; Can You Ever Forgive Me starring Melissa McCarthy; Life of Pi; Monsoon Wedding; The Namesake and The Reluctant Fundamentalist; Love is Strange; Kogonada’s award-winning science-fiction drama, After Yang, starring Colin Farrell; Gully Boy, based on the lives of street rappers in Mumbai; Bart Freundlich’s After the Wedding, starring Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams; Here and Now, starring Sarah Jessica Parker. Bhasin’s television credits include the critically acclaimed Ms. Marvel, A Suitable Boy, and HBO’s Divorce.

serena wong (Lighting Designer) is a Brooklyn-based freelance lighting designer for theater and dance. Her designs have been seen at Seattle Repertory Theater, The Ford in LA, Lincoln Center, New York City Center, the Joyce, and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, among others in the US and abroad—including, oddly enough, a Celebrity cruise ship. Most recently she has designed for choreographers Baye & Asa, LaTasha Barnes, Gemma Bond, Caleb Teicher, Leonardo Sandoval, and Bill T. Jones. She enjoys biking, baking, and pottery.

LIA OUYANG RUSLI (Composer) is a film composer and artist based in Brooklyn, NY. They have scored the A24 film Problemista and HBO series Fantasmas with Julio Torres, as well as Hulu’s Bruiser, Disney’s Photographer, and A24’s Sorry, Baby. In 2024, Lia scored Happyend and Dream in Nightmares, which had illustrious festival runs, including Venice, Berlinale, and London Film Festival. Their upcoming film for PASTEL, Sorry, Baby, premiered at Sundance 2025 to rave reviews and was acquired by A24. Under their solo moniker OHYUNG, they produce genre-shifting music that moves between ambient, experimental pop, and distorted noise. In March 2025 they released You Are Always On My Mind, a hazy, trip-hop laced experimental pop record described by Paste as “an unpredictable masterpiece.” Their previous album imagine naked! is a collection of ambient soundscapes and was described by The Quietus as a “masterful selection of muscular, shuddering, trembling ambient excursions” and hailed by NPR as one of the best 50 albums of 2022.

MIA LIDOFSKY (Dramaturge) is a director and writer, who created, showran, and directed the comedy series Strangers on Facebook Watch. Vice Magazine called Strangers “the best queer comedy on TV right now” and Vulture hailed it as “a bighearted drama.” In addition to the show’s critical acclaim, Out Magazine named Mia as one of its OUT100. Mia got her start assisting various directors in the TV space before moving on to Beachside Films, where she worked as a producer and development executive. She was the Associate Producer on the documentary Tig and the narrative feature People, Places, Things, both of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. She is currently developing her next show, as well as her first feature film. Mia is over the moon to be making her Off-Broadway debut collaborating with her forever partner in life and storytelling, and is here to remind you that you never know where that rock has been. And that somebody probably peed on it.
