DIRECTOR AND CHOREOGRAPHER

Kevin Carillo (he/him) is a theatermaker who writes, directs, choreographs, and devises new musical works from pre-existing materials. For his graduate thesis at Columbia University, he conceived FIGARO/FAGGOTS, a new opera-theater hybrid work with music by W.A. Mozart and text by Larry Kramer. In June of 2023, the company of FIGARO/FAGGOTS performed for Larry Kramer’s memorial at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Carillo was commissioned by the NYC AIDS Memorial to create a new site-specific work using excerpts from FIGARO/FAGGOTS for World AIDS Day 2023. He has been a resident artist at Mercury Store and Baryshnikov Arts. Carillo co-conceived and co-directed (with Trip Cullman) Soul Picnic starring Judy Kuhn as part of Lyrics & Lyricists at 92NY. Carillo is a Senior Manager at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts where he designs programming for emerging artists at the intersection of civics and arts. Awards/Fellowships: Licia Albanese Pucinni Foundation Award Recipient; William R. Kenan Excellence Scholar; William R. Kenan, Jr. Fellowship at Lincoln Center; Director Assistantship at Williamstown Theater Festival; Columbia University Theatre Program Scholarship; NYSCA Artist Grant. Carillo apprenticed with Ivo van Hove and Jan Versweyveld at Internationaal Theater Amsterdam. Education: University of North Carolina School of the Arts (BFA); Columbia University (MFA) under the guidance of Anne Bogart, Brian Kulick, and Katie Mitchell.

MUSIC DIRECTOR AND MUSICAL & VOCAL ARRANGER

Sean Peter Forte (he/him) is a Brooklyn-based musical director and sometimes actor working in a variety of genres, styles, and settings. From 2023–2024, he was the associate musical director for Illinoise from Bard Summerscape to Chicago Shakespeare Theater to the Park Avenue Armory and ultimately to Broadway. In 2022, he was the musical director for Daniel Fish’s Most Happy, a reimagining of Frank Loesser’s masterpiece, at Williamstown Theatre Festival. Forte also works as a musician for Broadway and Off-Broadway shows that have included Sunset Boulevard, Cabaret, Here We Are, and Hadestown. He’s currently an understudy at Oh, Mary!. Forte is extremely grateful for all of queer joy and energy that has been poured into FIGARO/FAGGOTS by every actor who has helped us create this piece through the years.

CAST

Toni Jenkins (they/them) is a Brooklyn-based actor, poet, playwright, and clown making art at the intersections. As a performer, Jenkins’s work has been seen at The Shed, Soho Rep, Clubbed Thumb, Abrons Arts Center, The National Black Theater Festival, Lincoln Center, Fringe NYC (*Winner—Best Overall Play), and The Brick, among others. ACT UP! FIGHT BACK! FIGHT AIDS! FIGHT FASCISM!

Anthony J. Costello (he/him) is a NYC-based artist from all over the East Coast. He graduated this past May from the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Purchase College with his BFA in acting. Selected regional: world premieres of Double Helix (Bay Street) and the stage adaptation of James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room (Quintessence Theatre), Bonnie & Clyde (Bay Street), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Rhinoleap Productions), Master Class (Bay Street). Represented by Eris Talent Agency.

Bryce McClendon (she/her) is a performer, playwright, and voice teacher whose students have appeared with the Royal Opera House, Lyric Opera of Chicago, the New York Philharmonic, and more. She herself has performed at National Sawdust, Opera NEO, SongFest (Eva & Marc Stern Fellow), the cell theatre, and Lincoln Center. Her writings for the stage include the The Smallest Sound, in the Smallest Space (the cell theatre; Lincoln Center), her solo project The Eyes of Texas (The Vino Theater), and The Last Opera (Oberlin College; Catalyst New Music).

Jay St. Flono (they/them) is a classical singer, actor, composer, and librettist from Brooklyn, New York. Hailed for a “spectacularly beautiful and haunting” soprano voice by New York Times journalist Julie Scelfo, Saint Flono has worked with artists such as Bill T. Jones in Deep Blue Sea (2021) and visual artist Bethany Collins in America: A Hymnal (2023). Saint Flono has appeared in concert with NYC Opera, the Unsung Collective, Bronx Arts Ensemble, Grace Chorale of Brooklyn, Sugar Hill Salon and as a Critical Breaks Lead Artist with Hi-ARTS.

Luk Rosario (he/him) is a Puerto Rican actor and is thrilled to make his Baryshnikov Arts debut. He recently earned his BFA in Acting from The Juilliard School. Much love and gratitude to his friends and family for their unwavering support.

León Tak (he/they) is a Swiss-born, Dominican, and Japanese-Brazilian actor and singer, just graduated from New York University Tisch School of the Arts’ Graduate Acting program. Recent credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Classical Theatre of Harlem) and Outrage (Grad Acting). Big love and thanks to this team!

Tom Gold (he/him) is an internationally known dancer and choreographer. He was a soloist with the New York City Ballet, performing with the company for 21 years. He has performed as a guest artist with THARP!, Donald Byrd/The Group, the New York City Opera and many companies throughout the U.S. In 2008 he founded his own company, tomgolddance, which has toured to France, Italy, Spain, Bermuda, Israel, and throughout the U.S.

CREATIVE AND PRODUCTION

Annie Guo (she/her) is an Amsterdam-based production and stage manager who has worked in New York City and abroad. As a consulting producer, she has worked with Lincoln Center to manage and run the Festival Orchestra (previously known as Mostly Mozart) and other programming on campus, and in 2021, helped produce NYC Free at Little Island as part of its inaugural season. A classically trained pianist, she has recently delved into live improvised electronic music and finds joy in photography.

Noah Latty (they/she) is a director and stage manager from Philadelphia. They create work that balances the intimate and strange. Latty recently stage managed Major by Ogemdi Ude at NYLA, and [Untitled Miniature] by Joshua William Gelb at Here Arts. Latty is also a resident stage manager at The Mercury Store. Assistant directing credits include A Woman Among Women by Julia May Jonas at The Bushwick Starr, as well as Pre-Existing Condition by Marin Ireland at The Connelly Theater.

Kindall Almond (she/they) is a multidisciplinary designer and stylist living in New York. Almond holds an MFA in Costume Design from NYU Tisch, and a BFA in Fashion Design from Pratt Institute. Queer joy is resistance.

serena wong (she/her) is a Brooklyn-based freelance lighting designer for theater and dance. Her designs have been seen at Seattle Repertory Theater, The Ford in LA, Lincoln Center, New York City Center, the Joyce, and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, among others in the U.S. and abroad—including, oddly enough, a Celebrity cruise ship. Most recently she has designed for choreographers Celia Rowlson-Hall, Baye & Asa, LaTasha Barnes, Caleb Teicher, and Bill T. Jones. She enjoys biking, baking, and pottery.

Germán Martínez (he/they), a proud son of immigrant parents, is a Honduran-American, award-winning freelance theatrical sound designer based in NYC/NJ. He received his degree in Sound Design from Montclair State University in May 2018. As a designer, he seeks original and enticing plays to help develop, and bring forward the stories of bold playwrights through innovative sound design and composition. His work has been featured at: La Jolla Playhouse, Lincoln Center Theater, Perlman PAC NYC, Atlantic Theatre Company, Northern Stages, Ogunquit Playhouse, Everyman Theatre, Northern Stages, Intar Theatre, TheaterWorks Hartford, Women’s Project, MCC, American Repertory Theatre, Repertorio Español, George Street Playhouse, Two River Theater, and Trinity Rep.

Katerina Vitaly (she/her) is a projection designer and multimedia artist. Tommy Kurzman (he/him) is a wig designer with credits including the Broadway productions I Need That, Gutenberg! The Musical!, The Cottage, Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Pictures From Home, The Collaboration, Macbeth, Mrs. Doubtfire, All My Sons, True West, My Fair Lady, The Little Foxes, and Bright Star. Kurzman’s Off-Broadway credits include Little Shop of Horrors, House of McQueen, The Play That Goes Wrong, MCC Theater, Atlantic Theater Company, The Public Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, and New World Stages. Regional theaters: The Muny, Geva Theatre, Houston Broadway Theatre, Resident Ensemble Players, The Cape Playhouse, Signature Theatre in VA, and Manhattan School of Music.

Liv Rigdon (she/her) is a dramaturg, a designer and fabricator of props and costumes, a performer, a pinch hitter, and an avid audience participant. Her work as a multi-hyphenate artist has brought her into collaboration with multiple theaters and designers on and off and off-off Broadway, throughout the New York Dance scene, and amongst a family of drag artists. Passionate about committing public acts of whimsy as a method of awakening whimsy and bravery in others, Rigdon strives to use her powers for good. BFA University of Evansville, MFA Columbia

Dezi Tibbs (they/them) is ecstatic to be sharing this piece with audiences after workshopping it with Carillo and Forte for the last three years. As a dramaturg and writer, Tibbs specializes in new work development and radical interpretation of classic text having the pleasure to have worked with esteemed collaborators such as Sam Pinkleton, Lileana Blain Cruz, Annie Tippe, Max Vernon, and more!

Andrew Aaron Valdez (he/him) creates art where memory flows into possibility, where language is a river carving new paths, and the stage is a reservoir where stories gather. A Chicano artist, his work is rooted in Xinachtli, the moment of transformation. His artistry bridges archival research, immersive technology, poetry, and Coahuiltecan storytelling. As a consultant and arts leader, he reimagines how data, community, and theatre ebb together, ensuring no voice is left adrift.
