Founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Mikhail Baryshnikov, our organization is rooted in the belief that artists hold irreplaceable roles in our world, shaping perspectives, offering new approaches, and initiating crucial conversations in complex social, political, and cultural environments. Baryshnikov Arts supports extraordinary artists’ freedom to experiment with unique artistic expression that asks audiences to view the world in new ways. We offer performance and commissioning opportunities, artist residencies, and more.
Each year, Baryshnikov Arts hosts up to 20 artists in residence, with support that includes use of Baryshnikov Arts’ studios and theaters, work-in-progress showings, artist honoraria, and technical and administrative assistance.
Our application closes at 5:00 PM ET on October 18, 2024, or until the limit of 300 applications is reached.

BARYSHNIKOV ARTS RESIDENCIES OFFER:
- Either 1 week or 2 weeks of studio space
- 48 hours per week of exclusive use of studio space // 10 AM–6 PM, Monday–Saturday
- $1,800 stipend (regardless of residency length) to offset expenses
- An opportunity for an invited showing of the work-in-progress
- Professional video and photo documentation
ELIGIBILITY:
- Applicants must be 22 years or older at the time of the application.
- Applicants may not be enrolled in high school, an undergraduate program, or a graduate program at the time of residency.
- Baryshnikov Arts accepts applications from artists working in all performing arts disciplines: dance, music, theater, multimedia, performance art, or any combination thereof.
- Applicants are not limited to a specific geographic location; however, travel and accommodations are the financial responsibility of the applicant. International participants are responsible for their own visa, travel, living, and housing expenses and arrangements.
